I've removed the earbuds no problem and the system now works as it should, including changing the STB channel. Fairly easy fix for the "ir hardware not detected" windows7 media center bug. Trick media center into thinking you only have an analog antenna set this up manually.
Download the guide and make sure you have channels 3 and 4 visible. If not add them manually in TV setup menu. Tune to 3 or 4 with windows remote, depending on where you live, and then use the set top box remote to control TV as you would normally.
Only use the windows remote to enter 'live TV', control zoom, and volume. For recording and cable menu, use the STB remote as well. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Learn More. Windows Client. Sign in. United States English. Ask a question.

Used for several months and has good battery life with rechargeable batteries. Range is good, at least to about 20 feet. USB key is relatively small, and would work well for if neighboring ports are used on the sides. Cons: Buttons are smaller than a typical remote, but easy to get used to. Large branding in Red Lettering at bottom of remote.
Directional keys are close to the ok button. Pros: Got this at a sale price, which appears quite frequently since it's a Rosewill product. It's slim and functional. Cons: First unit was DOA. The remote was non-responsive - it would not light up when buttons were pressed. Luckily Newegg's exchange policy paid for shipping both ways. Had it not, the shipping cost would have been too high to bother with the exchange.
Overall Review: I use it for my music player and for Hulu Desktop. Works as expected in music apps, but in Hulu Desktop, the transport controls are non-functional - you control the player using only the directional and enter keys. Took a while to figure out, but it works. Also, there's no need to install the drivers from the CD if using W7, as far as I could tell. Pros: Good range Fits small hands Solid Feel to it, no squeaking pressure is applied Reciever picks up the signal from any direction I've tried.
Cons: I have medium sized hands, and the buttons are almost too small, especially the arrow cluster. Overall Review: The remote is smaller than it appears in the pictures, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I have an older Rosewill remote that is wider, but it doesn't have the range that this one does.
Pros: Nice and compact, solid, decent quality remote. Buttons function as they should. The range is decent too, especially when you attach it to a USB extension. You can pretty much place it anywhere in the room inconspicuously as long as the extension cable is long enough. I have a much older MCE IR remote and with this new one, I am able to use the remote in 2 different rooms without having to unplug anything.
